On African Skills. Building African Institutional Capacity to Deliver Agenda 2063

In order to leverage on and take full advantage of the current high growth opportunity, especially in the context of the African Union Commission’s Agenda 2063, and in the wake of the launch of the New BRICS Bank, all Africans of all shades and cultures need to raise their skills-game. The picture painted by the AU’s Agenda 2063 is the Africa that I want to live in, and that I want my children and their children to live in.

Press Release Nº033/2016 - High level visit from African Union to Mauritius on hosting of the Inaugural African Economic Platform

An African Union (AU) delegation, led by H.E. Mr. Erastus Mwencha, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), is in Port Louis to meet with the government of the Republic of Mauritius in preparation for the African Economic Platform. The Platform will be launched in Mauritius on 14 – 16 April, 2016.

African countries sets the stage to end AIDS, TB and Malaria by 2030: Adopt Africa Scorecard on Domestic Financing for Health

Ahead of the Meeting of the AU Summit in Kigali this month, Member State Experts  meeting in Ndjamena last week deliberated on the key fast track actions to end AIDS, TB and Malaria by 2030. This meeting follows the adoption of the Africa Health Strategy and the Catalytic Framework to End AIDS, TB and Eliminate Malaria in Africa by 2030. The meeting deliberated on the AIDS Watch Africa Progress Report for consideration by Africa’s Heads of State and Government. 

AUC in Collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the State of Eritrea hosted a Seminar: Women’s Empowerment and Development: the Eritrean Experience

In a bid to contribute to the success of the AU theme of the year, the Permanent Mission of the State of Eritrea to AU and UNECA in collaboration of the AUC has today organized a seminar under the theme: Women’s Empowerment and Development: the Eritrean Experience to share Eritrea’s experience in regard to the policies adopted and the actions taken to improve the livelihood of women, women’s empowerment and promote gender equality. 

African Union set to launch e-Passport at the July summit in Rwanda

The African Union (AU) is to launch the electronic passport (e-Passport) at the next AU Summit tabled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in July 2016. This flagship project, first agreed upon in 2014, falls squarely within the framework of Africa's Agenda 2063 and has the specific aim of facilitating free movement of persons, goods and services around the continent - in order to foster intra-Africa trade, integration and socio-economic development.
